I recently attended my first class at Kokoro Karate and Fitness Center, and I had an amazing time! Sensei James was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and understanding. I was able to learn so much in such a short period of time, and I can't wait to go back for the next class.

Had a great first experience at Kokoro with my son. We arrived early for him to get acquainted with the location. He was apprehensive at first but once he put on his uniform he warmed up. Since it was his first class the sensei gave him some extra attention to make sure he was comfortable and that he was enjoying himself. The class was about 15 students and the way they thought the class got all the students engaged, which for 3 and a half to 5 years old is a big feat. . My son spent the rest of the day talking about karate and going back to class. Overall I think class was a success, it captured his attention and got him excited for future classes which is more than I could ask for.

My son started karate at Kokoro almost 4 years ago. We picked Kokoro because of positive reviews online, particularly how patient and wonderful Sensai James is with the kids, and I’m so glad we did. They were 100% correct. We were hoping karate would help our 4 year old improve his focus, as well as get some exercise in a structured way. We got that and more. Four years later at almost 8 years old, my son can’t wait to get to every class, loves learning karate, is stronger, more focused, and has even learned some Japanese. Sensai James and his sempais (senior students) not only care about teaching karate but truly care about their students. When the pandemic started last year and everything shut down, Sensai immediately started Zoom lessons and we will be forever grateful that they were able to give our son some “normalcy” and something to look forward to during such a crazy time. Classes are now back in the dojo as well as on Zoom. They take all proper Covid precautions, sanitizing, distance and mask wearing, all while having fun and learning. We are lucky to be part of the Kokoro family.

My daughter has been attending Kokoro Karate For 3 years. My husband and I were interested in having her join karate to raise her self esteem. This dojo offered my little one so much more! Sensei James builds character and competence to each of his students. He enhances and improves their performance through consistent feedback and effective coaching. He constantly communicates their

Kokoro is an Amazing place with an Awesome staff! My daughter has been attending Sensei James classes for the past year. She absolutely loves it! Sensei James has incredible energy and has the kids totally engaged! The Sempai's, Senior Students, (I even learned Japanese!) are also, great! You can tell they had a great teacher!
Sensei James and his Sempai's just hosted my daughters 8th Birthday Party! The Parents of the other kids said their kids couldn't stop raving how great it was. Most importantly, my daughter said it was the Best Party!

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to write a review for the best karate center ever! My oldest is in his 11th year, my youngest in his 7th.... this is the true meaning of a community and a gift. Sensei is kind, patient, challenges the kids but supports them in meeting those challenges - and not only for their bodies but their minds. We can’t imagine not having the dojo as an active part of our lives. The love for kids is evident and the determination to build character as well as physical strength is what we always wanted from any athletic pursuit for our kids. We are always grateful as we see our children grow in their confidence, their self-discipline, and their compassion towards others. We could not recommend them more - from 3 and up, for all types of learners, this is the place where you will see your children thrive.
